Historic Brattonsville

We had a great time at Historic Brattonsville today. The girls played with toys from the late 1700s. L plucked chicken feathers to prepare the chicken to be cooked. H was utterly disgusted by this and stayed far away. She said " Those are my animal friends". I wouldn't be surprised if she becomes a veterinarian. They had a wheelchair from the early 1800s on display. H really enjoyed seeing all the doctor equipment. They were able to help prepare pumpkin soup and paint with watercolor. This was one accomplishment learned at the academy on site. We had a great time and cant wait to go back.

Grandparents visit.

My Grandparents came to visit this week. We had a great time and Grandma agreed to speak to the our Frontier Girls group about quilting. Since the girls are working on there badges for sewing it was perfect timing. She showed a bunch of different type of quilts that she had made for us. The girls really enjoyed it and were proud to show off their grandma.

Latta Plantation

We had a fun day at Latta Plantation today. They had speakers for areas around the historic home to teach on things like journal making, honey bee hives, candle making, cotton picking, cooking and preserving. The kids also got a chance to make their own journal and write with a feather. Ls favorite part was tasting the honey. H was very interested in everything she saw and heard.

L's birthday party

L had a princess and knights party for her birthday this year. A few older girls came to help me with makeup and hair for the princesses. The boys decorated a coat of arms to dress up as knights. L wanted a castle cake, so I tried my best at that. I was glad it held up through the party. They had a great time going through the castle door and dancing at the ball. I think the girls all had fun. It was a little sad to see my princess turn 5.

H's party

We had a Dog party for H this year. Of course, it wouldn't be any other theme. We played pin the nose on the dog, pass the bone game and mommy dog says where they did all kinds of dog tricks to Simon says rules. At the table every girl was able to have their stuffed dog eat dog food (coco cereal) with them out of dog bowls. They also dressed up their dog with ribbons etc. I think they had a great time.

My oldest is 8 years old today. I can't believe how time is flying. I can barely remember the details of that day 8 years ago. I do remember though looking at her round face and having a hard time believing she was mine. It seemed too good to be true. She has brought us so much joy over the years. She is so happy, always wanting to learn a new joke. She is also very imaginative and I love her zeal for life. Today for her birthday we are going to go to a pet store to see all the animals. Especially the dogs. I'm sure she will want to get something for her new guinea pigs too that the girls got for their birthdays. The white one is Snowy and the black and white one is Oreo. I really think she may be a vet one day. It will be fun to see what she will become. Happy birthday my sweet girl. We love you.
