Celebrating the big 1!!!

N turns 1 this week but since Nana and Papa were here we celebrated early. I decorated a fire truck cake and bought him a hat. He wouldn't keep it on very long but liked seeing it on us. Papa provided the entertainment with his puppets. He picked at his cake a little then decided to grab it with both hands and go at it. I took it away after a few bites.

Well our Christmas started at 5am with the girls ready to go. I was already up with N so I let them open their stockings and let the rest of the crew sleep. We had a nice leisurely time opening gifts. One of the biggest hits of Christmas were play quilts that my grandmother made. H got mermaides and L got fairies. The girls LOVE them. What a special first Christmas with N . He loved all his music toys. Nana and Papa being here made it extra special too.

Pigeon Forge

Pigeon Forge had some great Christmas decorations. This was the hotel we stayed in. They had a glockenspiel ( large bell instrument) that looks like a large coo coo clock.

Asheville

For Thanksgiving we took a short trip into Smoky mountains. The first stop was Asheville to the Grove park Inn. They had a gingerbread house decorating contest. These houses were amazing. Our neighbors entered and now H is inspired to do it next year.

Ls preschool performance

L performed with her class today and sang a song. "Every step I take I take in you Jesus". She did so good. She wasn't really scared. She even encouraged her class mate to sing. He clearly was not happy to be up there. I'm so proud of her.

Christmas at the mall.

We took a trip to the mall one day with some friends to check out the life sized Polar Express snow globe. It the the engine room from the movie. We were able to walk into the snow globe and it was snowing. H ran right up to Santa to tell him what she wanted. L hid behind the stroller but told me to go tell him she wanted a diamond castle carriage. I enjoyed getting a peppermint mocha and laughing with one of my best friends. It was such a nice way to start the holidays.
